In PowerPanel mode, the floating PowerPanel displays instead of the PowerBar when you initiate a PowerBuilder session but does not display automatically in the painters.

Tip To display the floating PowerPanel in a painter, press Ctrl+P or select PowerPanel from the File menu.

In PowerBar mode, the PowerBar displays in the initial window and displays automatically in all the painter windows unless you change the toolbar display configuration for a painter.

To switch from PowerPanel mode to PowerBar mode:

From the PowerPanel:

  1. Click the PowerBuilder Control menu icon, the Control menu displays.
  2. Select PowerBar. The PowerBar displays and the PowerPanel no longer displays.

From a painter:

  1. Click the right mouse button in the background of the painter toolbar or select Toolbars from the Window menu. The toolbar menu displays.
  2. Click PowerBar. The PowerBar option becomes checked (turns on) and the PowerBar displays.
  3. Tip The default location for the PowerBar is in the dock at the top of the window. If you change the location of a toolbar, the toolbar will display in the new location until you change the location again.

To switch from PowerBar mode to PowerPanel mode:

  1. Click the right mouse button in the background of the painter toolbar or select PowerPanel from the File menu. The toolbar menu displays.
  2. Click PowerBar. The PowerBar option becomes unchecked (turns off) and the PowerBar no longer displays.
  3. Tip When the PowerBar is a floating toolbar, clicking the Control menu icon in the PowerBar changes the mode to PowerPanel mode. Note that the PowerPanel does not display when a painter is open.
