If your site has multiple databases or other data sources, you can change the current data source in any of the SQL Smart painters. When you change data sources, the change remains in effect until you change the data source again; the new data source becomes the default data source in Preferences.
Tip If you frequently change data sources, you may want to add the Database Profile icon to the toolbar. When you click this icon, the Database Profiles window displays.
There are two ways to connect to a data source:
If you have defined a profile for the data source:
- Select Connect from the File menu. The Connect menu lists the database profiles that have been defined.
- Select the profile for the data source you want.
If you have not defined a profile for the data source:
- Select Connect from the File menu. The Connect menu lists the database profiles that have been defined.
- Select Prompt. The DBMS window displays. Select the DBMS you required to access the data source from the list in the Select DBMS dropdown listbox. Windows will display if additional information is required.
Tip If the data source is an ODBC data source, you must configure the data source before you can use prompt to access the data source.
