The Slide option on the popup menus in the DataWindow and Report painters allows you to slide columns and objects to the left, slide all above the current column or object up, or slide only those that are directly above the current column or object up. You can use this feature to remove blank lines in mailing labels or to remove extra spaces between fields (say first name and last name).

Tip       The column or object you want to slide must have AutoSize Height turned on. Since blank columns have a height, if AutoSizeHeight is False the column or object will not slide.

To use slide columns:

Click the right mouse button in the column you want to slide. The popup menu displays. Select Slide. The list of options displays, select the option you want: Left, Up - All Above, Up - Directly Above.
