Description
InfoMaker provides a new option named Automatically Connect to Database on the General tab in the System Options dialog box. When you are working in the InfoMaker development environment, Automatically Connect to Database controls whether InfoMaker connects to the database when you open a painter requiring a connection (the default) or automatically when you start InfoMaker.
The setting of Automatically Connect to Database applies only in the InfoMaker development environment. It has no effect in InfoMaker applications at execution time or in PowerBuilder. (Automatically Connect to Database is not available in the System Options dialog box in PowerBuilder.)
Purpose
Clear the Automatically Connect to Database checkbox (default setting) if you want InfoMaker to connect to the database only when you open one of the following painters requiring a connection: Database, Report, Form, Query, Table, or Data Pipeline. Using this setting can save you money if you are accessing a database that charges for connect time.
Select the Automatically Connect to Database checkbox if you want InfoMaker to connect to the database at startup and stay connected throughout the session until you exit. This is the same behavior as in previous versions of InfoMaker.
