Several PowerBuilder manuals are provided in the form of HTML books. The PowerBuilder online Help system includes hypertext links to these books where appropriate.
For example, the link at the end of this topic takes you to an HTML book topic on using online Help from the PowerBuilder User’s Guide.
How the HTML book links work
The HTML books are provided in two forms, only one of which will be installed on your computer unless you performed a Custom installation and specifically requested both:
- Compiled HTML Help files, which require Internet Explorer 4.01 (SP1) or higher.
- Uncompiled, individual HTML files, which will display in your Web browser.
When you click on the question mark icon to the left of the text that describes the topic, PowerBuilder Help launches the HTML book topic in the form that was installed on your computer.
The content provided in the two forms of HTML books is the same. The compiled files offer more convenient navigation among topics as well as full-text search. The uncompiled files offer the simplicity of working with any Web browser that is properly installed and associated with the HTM file extension.
Tip If the Table of Contents in the compiled HTML Help does not expand to show the current location when you click on a question mark icon, click the icon again.
DynaText online books still available
The complete PowerBuilder documentation set is still provided in the form of DynaText online books and on the Web.
